Howard and Joy Mace are both Kiwis who have lived in many parts of New Zealand and the world. Joy has a nursing background while Howard has served as a military dentist. He has operated in Harley Street in London where he did a Masters degree and was head of a department of a post graduate institute in Jakarta Indonesia. More recently he helped with disaster victim identification in Phuket Thailand following the tsunami. He received a Special Service Medal in recognition of his work and has recently been made a fellow of the International College of Dentists. Joy is a member of the friends of New Zealand Opera and the committee of the Devonport Business Association. They are both members of the Museum Trust and the Friends of the Botanic Gardens.
They have two children, Bevan and Tania and three grand children, Forrest, Eloise and Patrice.
